Fire and Train
22 GoodGymers made their way 4.0km to help their local community in Islington.

Tonight was all about promoting The Old Fire Station - a community centre off Holloway Road that offers bucketloads of activities for locals.
There were quite a few first timers this evening. Great to have you all along. And nice to see some of the regulars back as well. Congrats to Laura for completing the most good deeds in Islington in January and thanks to Pritesh for supplying the GoodGym-branded Nutella as a prize. We had an official ceremony, but due to an "administrative error" Laura will actually get to take the Nutella home next week.
After a little warm up we headed to the "distribution centre" where we collected leaflets and split into three teams. Tonight's debate was simply about the best way to distribute leaflets. Some suggestions:
- On tower blocks get the lift up and work your way down from the top
- Don't stick your hand all the way through the letterboxes
- Pre-fold the leaflets for quick delivery action
- Leave origami cranes on people's doorsteps (which Richard totally did)
- Fashion the flyers into paper aeroplanes and chuck them off the top of tall buildings.
Which team was fastest? Well, we all had a few flyers left at the end of the evening, so were we all losers? Nope, we covered all the streets and most of the tower blocks in the area, so we're all winners. Due to an "administative error" there was even a bit of overlapping.
But now for the really sad part of the report: although biscuits were bought and lovingly chucked on the back seat of Simon's car, due to an "administrative error" none were given out. And the poor Islington GoodGymmers did look a little more weary this evening as we made out way home from Highbury Pool. To make up for this unforgivable mistake next week is DOUBLE BISCUIT WEEK.
The night finished with a bit of whizzing around Emirates Stadium which we think is perfect for this sort of thing and is going to become a frequent feature of GoodGym Islington runs.
Finally, Caroline showed us how BadGym might go about delivering their leaflets (see photo) and we had a little stretch.
Well done everybody. See you next week when we're back inside. Register here
