Woodland Wonders and Fabulous Fungus
2 GoodGymers made their way to help the Luton Borough Council Parks and Countryside in Luton.

Two Goodgymers ventured out in this morning's glorious winter sunshine to Kidney Wood on the edge of Luton.
Gill and Tigger joined Sam from Luton Borough Council and a friendly group of local conservation volunteers to continue with bramble clearance and the pathway connecting one side of the wood to the other was completed. Hazel catkins are appearing and the first bluebell shoots are evident in the broad walkway so we had to be mindful of where we walked. Sam spotted a curious fungus on a rotting birch stump and his suggested i.d. is 'candlesnuff fungus' - to be confirmed. What a wonderful setting for a community task and we'll look forward to seeing the season unfold here at Kidney Wood where there will be regular Friday morning sessions over the next month.

It was a really enjoyable task in this hidden gem of woodland. :-)
