Today I joined the Sheffield Forestry Commission and a group of eager volunteers to plant trees in the Loxley valley. This was to help prevent flooding and promote biodiversity. We planted around 1000 whips of Birch, Rowan, Alder, Willow and Oak. Not bad work for a few hours! They have regular volunteer events, so hope this is something Goodgym could get more involved in. After I took the opportunity to enjoy even more of the glorious weather and run a local race route, the Percy Pud, as it starts and finishes right by where we were working.
