When the (wood)chips are down
5 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in Bexley.
- Sunday, 13th of February 2022
- Led by Tim Dickson
This was our third session working on the Woodland Walk, alongside the lovely volunteers from the Friends of Danson Park. We'd completed two-thirds of the main path on the previous occasions, so the aim today was to tackle the remaining section.
It was Suzie's first ever GoodGym task and we all quickly fell into a routine - some of us shoveling woodchips into wheelbarrows for others to ferry them to the path where we spread them out creating a springy new surface for park users to enjoy.
With speed shoveling, whizzy wheelbarrowing and rapid raking the finished path was looking fab by the end of the morning.
We had a real sense of a good-job-well-done as we adjourned to The Stables where the management treated us to hot drinks while we had a natter.
The Friends of Danson Park are so welcoming and great company, and we're already looking forward to going back on Saturday 12 March to tackle the side paths. Come and join us!
