Weed-idn’t need much encouragemint to leaf the borders in mint condition!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Saturday, 27th of October 2018
Samia and Karen having given up any notions of a cosy duvet-day, arrived at Mrs Q sporting (very attractive!) matching runny noses; wrapped up in several layers and braced to tackle the weedy task at hand. Fair-weather GoodGymers they certainly are not they concurred. :-)
This was Samia's second visit so she knew the 'turf' already and was soon blitzing those pesky weeds (and surplus to requirements mint) in no time at all! Karen soon followed suit and with fork in hand she pondered her weedy arm muscles getting a fab workout turning over the clods of turf... no boring gym membership required for her. Bonus!! Thanks GoodGym and Mrs Q!!
Samia on the other hand, described having already squeezed in a bike ride, coach visit AND 16K run (including a late arrival for Parkrun with elbows out to catch-up!!!!); left Karen completely exhausted just listening to her.
Karen had taken a far more sensible (in her humble opinion) and leisurely approach to her Saturday with a nice lie-in then a quick cycle to the mission. Well, that WAS her plan but the confusing maze of paths and trails put a spanner in the works and she was soon circumnavigated the Common looking for a (any!) way out. Do the Wombles ever have this problem she had pondered before finally finding civilisation (and Samia) with a big sigh of relief!!!
With all the weeds blitzed and a quick bagging up, Karen finished up by digging a hole for one of Mrs Q's prized plants. She had very careful instructions from Mrs Q so it was positioned just right followed by the offer of a return visit to see it in full bloom next year!
Samia and Karen had a real sense of weed-chievemint surveying the nicely turned beds. After a quick chat with a very grateful Mrs Q, the GG'ers set off into the arctic wind-chill. Karen decided to avoid the risky option through the Common (think Bermuda Triangle) in preference for the fumier A3 route.
With a weary wave goodbye, Samia headed off home in the direction of Richmond Park no doubt pondering... should I fit in just ONE more run??? PHEW!!!!

Brilliant run report Karen - so much for “it will literally be two lines”! And the answer was no, there was no more running - some good resting with the bus instead! Welcome to the “we’ve been lost in Wimbledon common” club!
Yes I knew it probably wouldn’t be but I enjoyed writing it! Very pleased to hear u chose the bus option u crazy woman 😂. Good luck next wk!
I think the 'Bermuda Triangle' is an excellent fit for what Google maps presents as a 'short cut' through Wimbledon Common! Never again for me!
