We were leafing nothing to chance!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Cardiff.
- Saturday, 14th of December 2019
This past Saturday, GoodGym runners Ellen and Nathan met at the home home Mr B. The task: to sweep up the leaves from his garden. They were getting wet and slippery underfoot, so he was wary of going outside. We didn't want to leaf it to chance that he might fall in the future.
Mr B provided the rake, brooms and shovels for the various surfaces - wooden patio, lawn and driveway. Ellen and Nathan got stuck in, and - while working away - discussed the prospects for the upcoming annual trek up Pen y Fan (highest mountain in South Wales). There had been a torrential downpour just prior to the mission, and it was still pretty blustery!
But luckily the rain held off, and indeed the sun came out by the end of the task - just in time for the trek too. We had a farewell chat with Mr B, who was so grateful for our help, he offered us a cup of coffee and some satsumas! A nice gesture, from a nice gentleman who now has less chance of slipping outside. Hopefully he'll be able to spend a bit more time outdoors now.
