We're Diggin' It! Weeding mission for Edith Road Project
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hammersmith and Fulham.
- Sunday, 19th of March 2017
Jason and I ran to the Edith Road Project where we met Laura. We helped them improve the communal garden space so that residents have somewhere to grow vegetables in the raised beds and start up a gardening group and feel more at peace by making the most of the space!
We started by weeding the borders of the entire garden and tidying up litter. We then moved onto the main plot to clear space in and around the planting beds by removing some of the biggest weeds we've ever seen! It gave us a good workout pulling up some very deep rooted weeds and finding lots of mysterious objects like teabags and basketballs! We cleared and swept the space and filled about 12 rubbish bags with everything we collected and carried them up the stairs which was the workout grand finale! We even met a couple of the residents who were really helpful and clearly really happy to see that the space was getting a kick start. It went from a weed jungle to a usable space! Hurrah!
