Two feet in the grave
5 GoodGymers made their way to help the Tree musketeers in Hackney.

Although the title hints at a comedy show, there was actually a serious angle to this months Tree Musketeers task - digging a grave...
Not quite unexpected, this led to quite a macabre conversation about burials and such, with ideas ranging from alternatively shaped coffins to mushroom-infused pj's to pods that grow into a tree. But after that digression the actual task of grave-digging came to the fore. A collection of diseased baby trees were to be safely disposed off without contaminating others by burying them in a quiet corner. In came a crack team to put the Good & Gym together into Goodgym!
Kitted out with spades & hoes & wheelbarrows we set to work on making a 3ft by 3ft by 2ft hole in the ground - one team broke up the ground, the other cleared the loose soil. As a side job, some of the cleared soil was used to fill up a dozen or so holes around the nursery, to level the ground and avoid trip hazards with next months open day guests in mind. Talking about next month, anyone fancy being a tour guide at the nursery open day? There will be other jobs to help with as well, no worries ;-) With the hole dug, the diseased plants were stripped of tags & casings etc and crushed up filling the grave about halfway. Topping up with some of the soil dug out, it seemed like nothing had happened at all.
Some lovely cake to replace the sweat spilt seemed a fair exchange - apologies for forgetting what it was called (made with whole oranges?), but it tasted great! Another Tree Musketeers task done, the team split and went their own ways, taking it easy in the still increasing heat.
