Tons o’ Puns
1 GoodGymer made their way to help the The Active Wellbeing Society (TAWS) in Birmingham.
- Thursday, 23rd of April 2020
- Led by John Hayes
Today, Francesca delivered 16 bags to 11 homes. The fourth drop was the hundredth by GoodGym Birmingham, hence the ton pun! These food drops have been done by Francesca, Tousif and Neesh, who have made an incredibly valuable contribution to the drive to get food out to people who can’t access it during these troubling times.
Nevertheless, Francesca described today’s mission as nothing overly remarkable, but a good trip out in the sun. I think every one of these community missions is remarkable. Usually we combine giving our time and exercising to achieve the good we do at GoodGym, but the help we give right now is extraordinarily generous. Especially considering the changes we have all had to make to keep ourselves safe.
The Active Wellbeing Society are working in partnership with Birmingham City Council and more than 70 voluntary food groups, collecting and distributing over 20 tons of food every week from their hub in Ladywood. We’ll be back for more food drops and helping to sort food too. If you can help sorting food, sign up at community missions such as this one: https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/sorting-food-for-the-active-wellbeing-society-ef94dd16-db48-42f1-b659-25b5fe3f5b26
