Those drawers were not leaping anywhere
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Saturday, 29th of February 2020
Saturday was a good morning for an indoor mission, out of the wind and rain, but making the most of February's extension. David and I met up to lend Ms P a hand with a shuffling of some large pieces of furniture in her home. The main thing that Ms P wanted moving was a lovely antique chest of drawers (not too dissimilar to the one in the picture, although in our enthusiasm to get everything in the right place, we neglected to take any actual pictures... oops) up a set of stairs. These older pieces are well made, sturdy and a little on the heavy side, but with the drawers taken out it wasn't too bad at all. A welcome bonus was the presence of Ms P's daughter, who was able to lend a further set of hands with the chest of drawers, and meant that we were easily able to move a few other items of furniture as well.
We were finished in not much time at all, even including a pause to chat after the moving was complete. It was a pleasure to help them out and hope to cross paths again one day David!
