It was our second visit down to Battersea Scouts HQ to help sort out their outside area last night, so it only seemed right to start off our evening with a warm up whilst discussing whether we had gone Scouts, Beavers, Brownies, Guides or any of the others. While a couple of us had never had the pleasure, there were plenty of badges collected between us and even one present day leader!
We took a slightly longer route down the the HQ where we found Peter waiting for us with lots of tools and instructions. Over the pandemic the outside area became overgrown and unusable, but the Beavers have big plans to plant herb gardens, so our jobs was to make it clear and safe for them to use.
Brooms, secateurs and bin bags at the ready we got stuck in, carefully avoiding the thorns that had the better of some of us the last time we were there.
Thankfully this time we emerged unscathed, and ready for a legs blast outside the HQ. In the space usually occupied by the magical G1 bus, we did six exercises for 50 seconds each with 10 seconds recovery - all designed to make those leg muscles burn! If that wasn't enough we followed up with a shorter version with no break. Impressive work everyone. After a short run back we just had time for stretches - another Monday evening, another session of doing good and getting fit. Nice one! Next week we'll have a Monday community mission instead of a group run - watch this space for more details. Until then, happy running!
