They couldn't chair less
12 GoodGymers made their way 11.0km to help their local community in Westminster.
- Wednesday, 13th of January 2016
Round two of Goodgym Westminster in 2016 saw 13 of us facing quite the run, a daring 11km to The New Avenues youth project.
But first, as per usual, Cory briefed all of the enthusiastic new members on the ins and outs of Goodgym and on how they could get more involved.
As we had originally been set for a 5ish km run to St Andrews which was cancelled at the last moment, Cory kindly offered alternative methods of transport home for those who were not quite expecting to do a 11 km on a Wednesday evening. The options were run, tube or uber.
Off we went towards edgware road, thankfully avoiding the usual bustle of central London at rush hour. 5.5km later and we were warmly greeted by a lovely member of staff at New Avenues who told us about the project and sadly about the project having recently lost its funding from the council. While brainstorming a few ideas of how we might be able to help out, we moved some sofas down some flights of stairs which were no longer needed and tidied up one of the activity rooms.
The 5.5km journey home saw the group being split into two, those who choose to run continued on there way and those who wanted to call it a day at 9k jumped on thr tube back to base. And as if by magic we all made it back to Regent street almost at the same time.
All stretched out and with some antibacterial gel dispensed by Lucy we were ready to face our respective journeys home.
