The Wombles of... Willowdon
7 GoodGymers made their way 4.2km to help their local community in Bath.
- Tuesday, 29th of March 2016
The rain gave us a break tonight for the duration of our run and task so that our lovely SEVEN Goodgym runners could WEAVE their way up the 1.5mile Hill to Bloomfield allotments to cut WILLOW for Transition Bath for the many community garden groups in Bath.
The weather has been rather stormy today in Bath with heavy thundery showers putting some of our runners off venturing out but lady luck was on our side tonight and on cue the sun shone upon us at the last minute. A few of our lovely students have gone home for Easter but kenta and Charles came back from Berlin just in time to help out this evening and wasn`t it great to be doing the task in daylight with not so dodgy pictures.
A welcome back to Mary and Louise two of our newest runners at GG Bath. A briefing from Steph on tonight's task and Transition Bath before leading the group out for a warm up and headcount then taking to THAT HILL leading up to Bloomfield allotments where our lovely host Virginia was waiting to guide the group for the task.
The group took to the task tonight like DUCKS TO WATER with teams cutting and gathering the willow for Virginia to tie into bundles ready to distribute amongst the many community gardening groups in Bath. Louise bravely taking the heights of that sinking ladder but safe in the knowledge Steph had it covered and Mary close to hand. Charles gathering to keep up with Ellen, Mim and Kenta.
The only distraction tonight were the chickens who seemed to be having a disagreement about sleeping order with the poor white one losing out but she came back to check on our progress.
We spent 40 minutes on the task and managed to get all the bordering willows cut back and bundled up with chance for a group photo as the sun went down with just enough time left to help gather everything up and bid Virginia goodbye before our mass descent back down THAT HILL to the leisure centre for a stretch out and a reminder of all the Good things we do at Goodgym.
Thank you for tonight you are all truly amazing people giving up your time to get fit and do good.
Thanks to Louise for tonight`s Pun even though most of the group didn't know of the Wombles of Wimbledon
