The tide is high...but we're picking on
4 GoodGymers made their way to help the Portsmouth Residents & Visitors in Portsmouth.
- Saturday, 19th of September 2020
- Led by Judy Knapp
Catherine, Mel, Val & I (+ Tess) combined a pub lunch and a pleasant stroll with a beach clean at Prinsted.
The only downside was that there wasn't very much beach... it was high tide! But in the area where we wanted to focus our efforts - on one of the slopes leading down to the beach - there were still countless tiny pieces of coloured plastic hidden in the seaweed. Catherine dispensed with her litter picker & crouched down to use gloved fingers to sift out the miniscule pieces.
We also litter-picked as we strolled along the paths to and from the beach, and ended with quite a collection of recyclables and litter as well as the plastics and fishing debris.

I love to combine keeping active, helping my local community, protecting the environment and having fun with others doing the same.
