The Great Trashby
7 GoodGymers made their way to help the Great Salterns Preservation Society in Portsmouth.
- Saturday, 26th of February 2022
- Led by Rachel Cutler
A nice sunny morning for the newish Great Salterns parkrun (event 6) before our monthly litter pick. Laura, Rachel, Sinead and Wilson put in a good effort on the three lap trail course, a bit of mud in places but not too bad! I'm sure we will back soon for another Goodgym volunteer takeover 🙂.
After some coffee refueling we were joined by Aoife, Catherine and Jenny to tackle the huge amount of rubbish that gets dumped from the paths in this lovely area 😡.
We found a very well preserved Halloween pumpkin we thought must be plastic until we found the seeds inside, a shoe (there are always clothes), a nice heart shaped hanging basket we hope someone will reuse and a light fitting with power lead. Plus the usual cans, bottles, unidentified litter and bagged dog poo (why?!!). Several big bags were filled and Jenny kindly took home all the recycling.
We'll be back next month on 26th March.
