The early weed catches the leaves
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Sunday, 2nd of December 2018
Two GG Yorkies meet on a mild winter's afternoon to help Mrs R tidy up her garden.
Fortunately Tim had been there before, so we didn't have to get lost in the maze of buildings to find her house!
Mrs R doesn't have very good eye sight so she needed us to locate and pull up the weeds in her small but perfectly formed garden.
We cut back some of the dead plants and trimmed bushes. Tim used his bare hands. Apparently all he had to do was touch the bush and the branches fell off. I used a pair of scissors I found lying around. Tim was fascinated by a vine weed whose tendrils looked like they had captured falling leaves from its host tree.
Finally, we swept up leaves and gathered all the tools which were scattered around the garden into one tidier place.
Gardening done, we helped Mrs R to read the instructions for cooking her ready meal - the text was to small for her to see, even with a magnifying glass. Our last task was to put the bins out and run home.
On the way home a toddler challenged me to a race. Given that his legs were probably a quarter of the length of mine, I won. He'd probably take me down on age grading though!

Well done both; nice touch on helping read the instructions and well done on winning on the race home!
