Thankfully, Craig was there to shed some light on the task
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Saturday, 1st of September 2018
Three GoodGym Yorkies ran to Mr M's to help him build a shed.
Far from the flat pack shed we'd imagined, Mr M led us to his yard where there were a lot of tools and reclaimed timber.
I've drawn out a plan- the only problem is, I don't have any measurements
Mr M then showed us an artists impression of a shed pointed out a window frame that was for one of the side walls. Using that, Craig's experience as a D&T teacher, and the space where the shed would eventually stand, we (Craig) added some measurements to the drawing.
Next it was a simple case of doing what Craig told us to - basically cutting some wooden planks to size and screwing them together around the window frame to make the first wall of the shed. Mr M had some pretty cool tools, including a manual screwdriver that worked a bit like a drill when you pushed down on it.
A few hours later, we victoriously lifted the first wall of the shed off the ground, and leaned it against a wall so that Mr M could sand it down and paint it while he waits for the next instalment of shed building to take place!
