Team GB Win the Battle of GG vs Grass
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Thursday, 25th of July 2019
Myself and Georgie (aka Team GB) arrived at Mr M's on the hottest day of the year (or so it felt like anyway). Georgie had sensibly walked the mile or so from home and I cycled as it was far, far too hot to run anywhere today. I arrived armed with tools from home but most of them weren't needed as Mr M had a really tough strimmer, rake and shears.
Mr M has quite a large lawn but luckily some of it had already been cut. Georgie set about strimming the remaining patch which wasn't quite as bad as we had been expecting. I used the shears to cut around the edges and tackle some of the more clumpy bits but before I completely melted I switched to raking (with a very small rake). We swapped roles and I was soon whizzing through the grass whilst Georgie raked.
We took breaks in the shade behind the house to take on water and enjoy the breeze before braving the afternoon sun again to get the job finished off. Mr M asked if we could also tackle some of the tall and spiky weeds at the bottom of the garden and we duly obliged, however they proved too tough for the strimmer so the shears came out again.
In just over an hour we had completed our mission, almost filled the green bin, and sweated a lot! Mr M was very grateful and we said goodbye as we braved the heat to journey home.
