Today I carried out my first vaccine centre stewarding shift at Bedminster methodist church. With 3 pharmacists/nurses giving vaccines, we managed to get through 480 patients during my shift. It took a bit of focus to make sure that we got patients registered and seen in order during the 5 hour shift and with horrendous weather outside, and a limit of 7 patients seated in waiting area ( 8 chairs but we always kept one blank so I knew who was next in line in case I forgot what number I was up to ;-) we made sure to keep the flow of patients inside moving as quickly as possible to avoid having to keep anyone queuing outside longer than necessary.
I was even lucky enough to be offered one of the 10 left over vaccines at the end of the shift which saved me having to come back the following week when my 1st appointment had been due.
