Souper Troopers
3 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in Wandsworth.
- Sunday, 29th of April 2018
Karen, David and Clare joined Sharon from the Transition Town Tooting (TTT) and Tara the 🐶 to turn over the vegetable patch ready for some new seeds to be planted next week.
The area was over grown with grass and we all got stuck in with forks to lift the soil, break down the clumps of mud, and remove rocks, grass and roots.
We managed to harvest some produce along the way - some miniature 🥕, a couple of 🥔 and even a spring onion! At least enough for Sharon to make a (small) bowl of vegetable soup, yum!
We had a great time learning about the TTT community projects. Sharon has regular groups of Reception and Year 1 students who come to the garden to learn about nature and gardening. One of their projects involved creating a recycled bottle conservatory and there is even a bug hotel! Outside of the garden there has been a soup disco - yes, homemade soup and 🕺 💃 - and loads of other creative projects. What a FAB organisation! If you fancy popping by then the garden is open to the public on Sunday mornings for a chance to get hands on!
