Slow Wide Long, Lilian’s gone!
1 GoodGymer made their way to help their local community in Newcastle.

After discovering the Slow Ways organisation earlier in the summer and verifying one of their routes as a GoodGym group mission, Garry and I decided to do another one. We were almost scuppered by Storm Lilian, but after delaying our start by an hour we dodged the rain, although it was still a bit blowy! Having looked at the route I had thought some of it was going to be quite exposed to the road but actually only a small part of it was and it turned out to be a really pleasant walk, taking in Weetslade Park (never been before - a good place to return for a run sometime), the old wagon way and some definitely current railway lines to be negotiated. We took a bus to Wideopen, slowly walked to Longbenton then got a metro back to Newcastle so multiple transport modes employed! All in all a very enjoyable Friday morning!
