This morning I met up with Sarah for a mission and breakfast in Hackney before work (pictures of breakfast included, because it is the most important meal of the day and I want to brag). I like to think of occasions like these as being a mish-fast, because we'll get a mission done quickly. It's also better than the other portmanteau of a break-on, which is something that can happen during a mission but should probably be avoided (example usage; "We got our break-on").

Our task today was to help Ms D access her bed safely by moving some furniture for her. Specifically, we were to move lockers, a chest of drawers and some clothes.

After meeting our contact from Age UK, our initial task was to gain access to the building. Although we were in possession of a set of keys, for some reason none of them wanted to open the door to the building 🤷 After a few minutes of annoyance, we swapped charity for commerce and simply rang the trade buzzer. Success!

Ms D's flat was lovely, although the bedroom was a little cluttered. With our contact not being the person who devised the moving plan, we spent a few minutes trying to work out what we could move and to where before moving anything. Our contact got stuck in as well, and after 15 minutes or so, we were all finished, with the only large move being of a narrow chest of drawers from the bedroom to the living room.

Hopefully what we've done today will help Ms D use her walker to access her bedroom and she'll enjoy being home amongst her things. Our contact said as we were leaving that she was actually a little glad to see that Ms D had so much stuff, as a lot of the people she looked after didn't have very much at all. I'm glad for the perspective that missions like this bring :)

Lovely working with you, Sarah, and hope you enjoyed your second mission 😊
