SHP are “litter”ally getting more involved with their allotment.

I cycled up to the SHP allotment and was the first to arrive. Taking a solitary walk around the patch it struck me just how much progress has been made. The beds are now clearly defined and regularly weeded by the SHP clients. The side raised beds have lettuce and garlic planted both of which are doing well, the raspberry and redcurrant bushes are showing the benefits if being properly pruned and new shoots are coming through. There are seeds neatly planted in the cloche and spring bulbs popping up randomly everywhere.
Lorena the task owner turned up with some willing helpers and was soon sorting seeds and making a planting schedule. The dodgy shed down pipe was gaffer taped again. We watered the new seedlings then Lorena decided to unearth an old cemented area with an idea to install a herb garden. The rest of us went on a litter pick unearthing an old red carpet which we re-purposed as weed suppressant, my new friend Kevin and I struck up model poses on the red carpet for the camera. Plans were then made for our next session, we did a quick tidy up of the shed and we were done.
