Shear Hedge Attack
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Sunday, 26th of May 2019
I met Lindsay at Mrs D's house, for a return visit after Barbara and Lucy had started to tackle the overgrown garden a couple of weeks ago.
We met with Mrs D's son, who sorted us out with shears and a ladder and then showed us what needed doing (which didn't need much explanation, the hedges were huge!).
We got to work with the shears, giving the hedges a much needed reduction in height all the way around the house, which made everything look a lot tidier and lighter.
Christine (ladder loaner and coach runner to Mrs D) joined us towards the end of the task to provide a welcome extra pair of hands.
With 20 bags full of hedge cuttings, we were all done. We said our goodbyes to Mrs D's son, grabbed a selfie, and were off to enjoy the rest of the sunny bank holiday weekend.

Thanks a lot Paul and Lindsay, Lucy and Barbara, that hedge was enormous in height and length; I'd underestimated how big the garden was on my visits as I'd never walked right round it. Lovely to have a go with their small light shears up a ladder too, one gets a different perspective on landscape gardening. I look forward in seeing Mrs D's responses to the run reports:-)
Amazing work guys!
