27 Hackney GoodGymers ran 4k to Wilton Estate community garden to make Pom Poms and prepare the garden for Spring.
We arrived at the Bakehouse just as the heavens opened, not perfect timing but we quickly combated the rain by dodging the drops as we got our pulse raiser in on our way over to the partially covered Town Hall warm up area!
To keep dry and warm our warm up mainly focused Balance, we got our legs swinging and ankles loose before closing our eyes and balancing on 1 leg. Lots of arm waving, and foot twitching we battled to maintain a strong base! We moved onto some high knees and hopping both finishing by holding the balance on 1 leg.
With out body ready we were lead around to Wilton Estate by Clare on her final run before moving to Canada.
Meeting Debbie at the garden we split up into a variety of jobs from Pom Pom making, root removal, raised bed clearing, tool cleaning and notice board sprucing up!
While the Pom Poms were being weaved were was almost a disturbing discovery with the root removers are a Suspected Dead Dog was 100% not found in the garden! After the emotional non discovery was over Amie got stuck into the root and with time running out went for it and the root won sending Amie to the muddy floor!
With 30 minutes of action under our belt and Pom Poms made, roots removed, debris removed and flower beds cleared we headed back to base in three groups.
Setting out first was the Long Rangers who ran 4k back to base at a strong 4:45 a kilometre. Next went the Smooth crew who completed a solid 3k back at 6 minutes a Kilometre. And the Sexy Crew dominating 2.5k back to base at 6:30 minutes a Kilometre.
With the running finished we stretched and 17 of the Team carried the party on to wish Clare well on her adventure with a top Running refuel!
Next week we will be heading to Core CIC to start a monster Painting task!! Would be great to have you along to help transform a massive building into a key Community Hub to provide an incredible pain management service for local people. Check it out and sign up here.
Smooth Flight
