Sunday afternoon, between rain showers, 4 GoodGymers met with tree wardens, Pocket Parks, HIOW Wildlife Trust and local residents to plant fruit trees and a large number of shrubs, herbs and flowers in a green space off Victoria Street in Buckland.
After a few photos and some decoding of the maps and plans we started digging. Lucy and Duncan were in the group planting apple trees and small border plants while Maxine and I were busy in amongst some prickly bushes planting small trees and bushes. We referred to them as the sticky ones, rhubarby looking one and green leafy ones. Definitely not getting a job in a garden centre any time soon!
The organisers kindly laid on tea, coffee and a huge array of cakes to say thanks for our digging which was a lovely end to the task. And we managed to stay out of the rain too!
