Respecting the Elder
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Saturday, 29th of September 2018
Here's what Mrs E of YO32 had to say about the mission:
Ms P called us to say how impressed she was that both the runners had cycled to her and that they did a great job in the garden. She also told us about the bee incident and was quite worried about Craig's swollen lip. She asked that we pass on her thanks and best wishes, she's hoping his lip has gone down by now!
Two GoodGym Yorkies cycled 10 miles to help Mrs E with her garden
Craig had a slightly eventful journey when a bee flew into his mouth and stung him on the lip. When I arrived, Mrs E was already looking after him with a magical bicarbonate of soda potion to sooth and help with the swelling.
Our job was to clear a flowerbed of ground elder - a weed that deserves some respect. Although it was easy to pull up, any trace of the roots left behind means that it will come back.
Within 40 minutes, we had revealed the soil beneath the weeds and so bid farewell to Mrs E... though not before she forced some chocolate on us!
