An early start on a Sunday morning to be part of an historical activation station at the London Landmarks Half Marathon. This closed road race is organised by Tommys Charity so every runner fundraises even if they aren't running for a specific charity.
My activation station was celebrating London Women in history and in particular the suffragettes.
Once I arrived at the meeting point and picked up my packed lunch and 'votes for women' placard it was time for us to head to our position at Mile 12. A perfect location on Embankment, by Westminster Bridge and New Scotland Yard so we cheered the runners out to the bridge turning point and back to give them encouragement to push through that last 1.1 mile.
With high 5s, empowering women music and cheering ourselves hoarse it was fantastic to cheer on the runners from the speedy pack leaders to the lovely lady Terri who was the last to cross the finish line. The Goodgym participants I spotted received an extra large cheer from me 🙌.
I absolutely love cheering at this event and can't wait to go back and do it all again next year.
