Rake me up before you Hoe Hoe
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Bristol.
- Sunday, 7th of January 2024
A lovely first gardening mission of 2024 as Melanie and I teamed up to help the lovely Mr M. A fall last year meant that he was struggling to keep the garden and hedges up together.
His priority was getting the grass cut, so I busied myself with the mower, whilst Melanie grabbed some shears and secateurs and started cutting back the hedge on the roadside, as well as clearing leaves, ivy and debris from the pavement.
Mr M’s green bin was soon full, so he advised us to put the additional garden waste on a wildlife area in the front of the property.
Refreshed by a nice cuppa, there was enough time to utilise Mr M’s secret weapon which had a rake at one end and a hoe at the other - genius invention!
We managed to cut back and then scrape, rake and collect the ivy and leaves from the walkway, making the area much safer for him.
There’s plenty more to do here but we’ve made a good start and Mr M seemed very happy with our efforts 😊
