Print-apple 🍍

The second mission of the day for Kash and Sevan had them working on different tasks, even when they were sitting within a metre of each other throughout. Miss E had a new printer which she was having trouble using and she wasn't even able to get it to copy a document, never mind work with her phone.

Miss E's inability to copy was solved pretty quickly. She'd been pressing the copy icon on the printer's screen with no result. It turned out that her Epson printer didn't have a touchscreen, so the buttons on the face were needed to navigate the menus and copy documents.

Well, there was a way around using the buttons on the printer. Miss E's daughter had very helpfully installed the Epson printer's app on Miss E's iPhone which could do all of the tasks she needed from an easy to use interface.

Kash took the lead on explaining how the various features worked. She also tried to explain the difference between scanning and copying. A few different terms were tried, with none really sticking:

"Scan saves a copy of the document to your phone so you can email it later"
"Scan is physical to digital"
"Scan is hard copy to soft copy"

"Copy is creating another copy of a document"
"Copy is physical to physical"
"Copy is hard copy to hard copy"

After a while, Kash had a brain wave. To take photos of each step of the scanning and copying processes, then use Miss E's printer to print a user guide to keep for later 💡

While Kash was busy creating collages, Sevan was keeping Miss E entertained (or was it the other way around) talking about her youth and living through revolutionary times in the 60s and 70s. Miss E recalled the changes in London over the years, like Covent Garden going from a fruit & veg market to a retail space and when Timeout was introduced to publicise cultural events, allowing people to share experiences and give back to London. Through a very varied life, Miss E ended up working as a costume designer in the theatre, which she loved.

The final task for the new printer was to find out which ink cartridges Miss E needed to buy, if she did have to keep it.
