Paint, Rattle and Roll
18 GoodGymers made their way 4.1km to help their local community in Hackney.
- Tuesday, 2nd of February 2016
18 Hackney GoodGymers ran 4K or 6k to the Huddleston Centre and repainted an activity area.
Finally some nice Tuesday weather saw a really good turn out for Team Hackney opening February group run. Buoyed by the great base fitness layed down by the Mega 1500kπππ that we ran in the January Challenge, the improvements from the team have been staggering!! ππ»ππΎππ½
We started off at our normal spot outside the Council offices or as I like to think of it as the Running drill Race Track we showed that all the balance drills over last few weeks are paying off as there was barely a balance wobble in sight during our dynamic warm up. The coordination and speed shown during our Cadance improving Line drillinto Fast feet was scorching π₯π₯.
We set a steady pace weaving our way 2k through the streets of Hackney to the Huddleston Centre where after a little mystery we found Cassandra who shown us the activity area which was prepped and ready for some GG Hackney magic β¨β¨ to be sprinkled on it. Splitting into 5 painting mini teams we grabbed brushed and rollers and set about painting the wood Green and the walls White. We used our extensive talents well with new Team Hackney addition Jim working his talents up high while precise and flexible Becky expertly painted down low. Kate I and Kate A got stuck in with the lumpy green paint on the wood while Chris B and Chris L rolled away with the white paint. After 40 minutes of rolling action we had painted all 5 of the areas and more that we had been asked to do even with the added difficulty of a little darkness and paint brush rations. Great Work Teamπͺπ»πͺπ½πͺπΎ We said our goodbyes and split into the two well renound groups Speedy and Sexy for our battle back to the Bakehouseππ. Team Speedy lead by Coach Run rep Kev kept a blistering 7:30 minute mileing pace on the 3.5k long cut home but were no match the Sexy crew who showed such fitness improvements on the 2k run they should be very proud ππΎππ½ππΌππ». After a rejuvenating stretch out we said our goodbyes and ran, walked, biked, trained our way home for a well earned feed and sleep π²ππ€π€.
Hope to see you all again next week as we visit St Luke's to help set up the soft play and help with renovations. Please sign up here. Huge shout out to everyone who is available on Saturday to come a show how great GoodGym is at the Re:Generation festival that we have so brilliantly helped set up for!! Please sign up here to be part of this massive Social enterprise festival.
Until next time
Smooth balance
