Organ-isational lunch hour
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Thursday, 19th of October 2017
A short, sharp mission on Thursday lunch time saw Peter, Arran and I meeting in a Hackney estate to help Mr C move back into his flat, following a stretch in nearby Homerton hospital. Upon arrival, the Occupational Therapist let us in and gave us the basic brief, before leaving us in his hands.
In short, Mr C wanted us to rearrange his sizeable front room to accommodate the new bed as he no longer wanted to negotiate the stairs. The room was pretty full of furniture so the job entailed measuring the available space - nice one Peter on arriving armed with a decent tape measure. Next, it was a case of moving a few tables and chairs but the meaty part was relocating a hefty organ, which Mr C used to play. This was a three-man lift but well within our capabilities and he seemed very happy with his room's makeover.
Job done in 15 minutes and, after I repaired a picture frame that I 'altered' during the move, it was back to work for us all.
