On the Hunt for Horlicks
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Friday, 3rd of April 2020
When I arrived Ms C had kindly left me a shopping bag, list and £20 in tucked away in the alcove by her front door. (She told me all this through her lounge window, slightly mimed)
I set off to her local Sainsbury's where I queued for about 10 minutes to get in. Once inside I was delighted to find they had everything except Horlicks as they didn't sell it. Unwilling to be defeated I popped into a CostCutter on my way back on the off chance they had some, and lo and behold they did! Mission accomplished.
I headed back to Ms C's where I left her shopping and change for her outside her door and had a lovely conversation with her through her lounge window (this time she opened the window slightly so we could hear each other) She told me she had been inside for 3 weeks now due to self isolating but assured me she was managing just fine.
She tried to insist that I take a pound of her change in exchange for my good deed - I told her I couldn't accept it and that just being able to help someone out was reward enough for me!
