Now that we've found gloves, what are weed gonna do?
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Thursday, 29th of August 2019
On a slightly more autumnal (gasp!) afternoon Lindsay and I rocked up to a very chirpy Mr L who, delighted with his last encounter of GoodGym, was looking forward to our visit. We quickly found the bag of tools and armed with more rubbish bags than you could shake a weed at, we cracked on.
Undaunted to the sizable explosion of plant life that had now colonized the front garden, we decided to mount a two pronged attack and come at it from both sides. Go high then go low developed into an effective method and the green bags soon stacked up. Gloves were definitely needed!
"Are you sent from Heaven?" - although we were getting our hands dirty our faces were clean. Turns out Mr L wasn't the only one impressed with our grit and determination as our antics caught the attention of one of Mr L’s neighbours who popped over to say hi. After the hour we were 2/3rds of the way through, and neither Lindsay nor I willing to admit defeat, decided to plough on. Spurred on by our hunt for a pun title we were ecstatic when we realised we could substitute glove for love which opened many musical doors. At 20 green bags and a wheelie bin full of plant material we decided to call it a day. Mr L was delighted with the result, as were we!
