No Butter Way to Spend the Day Than on a GoodGym Mission
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Friday, 27th of March 2020
On my day off from working on the NHS frontline, I was up early to help Mrs B with her shopping. Mrs B has been self isolating as per government advice, so had been unable to get to the shops. Luckily, there was no other way I’d rather spend my annual leave than doing good (although, there wasn’t really anything else to do because of lock down!!!).
A hilly cycle took me to Roehampton, and armed with Mrs B’s shopping list I scoured the local Asda for the bits she needed. It was ham-amazingly ch-easy to find everything I wanted, the store was well stocked and everyone was calmly getting on with their shopping. I confidently got in line for the self-service... to find out that it was card only! ‘Queue’ a change a queue (and a half an hour wait in line) - enough to drive anyone ‘bananas’. Finally, the shopping was paid for, the groceries were cycled back and delivered to Mrs B’s doorstep. Job done.
