New Year Broom Sweeps Clean
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Liverpool.
- Monday, 8th of January 2024
After a month of relative inactivity (no running or cycling), as a result of a knee injury, it was fantastic to finally get out in the fresh air.
Rosie and I took a scenic route, along the canal, before heading across Liverpool City Centre.
Mr T was pleased to see us, as his small front yard had a huge collection of autumnal leaves, lining the wall.
Before the task, Mr T and I had a brief chat about football, and the weather...but it was far too cold for him to stand at the door.
Armed with a rake, brush and shovel, I set to work, filling Mr T's green bin. In less than an hour, the job was done...the leaves were gone...along with a large amount of very rich compost, and the army of worms that had produced it.
During the task, I was approached by a neighbour of Mr T (Mrs J) ...First, to ask if I was reading meters 🤔 and then, to ask if I could be hired privately, to remove the leaves from her front yard 😁
I explained all about GoodGym, and the referral process...however, Mrs J does not receive any outside support, and, at 76, is relatively independent.
As the initial task took less time than anticipated, I was able to also clear the yard for Mrs J (not an official GG mission, but a much appreciated one)... we had a lovely chat about health and fitness, whilst spreading the GoodGym love!
