Mud mud, glorious mud. Nothing quite like it for delivering the blood-oxygen measuring kit..
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in York.

It was a grey afternoon when I joined the socially-distanced huddle outside the doors to the surgery to pick up a pulse oximeter for Mr P. After a few minutes I did check that someone had pressed the bell, and we weren't all just standing there politely assuming someone else had done it.
Perhaps a dodgy bell, and most likely a busy afternoon, but toes were chilly before a lovely lady sorted out all those waiting in a jiffy. The oximeter was signed out, and instructions for the patient passed on.
I was on my bike for the first time since Christmas, and after all the recent rain the cut through paths through the wood were somewhat muddier than previously. Despite being a hybrid, my trusty steed took on the territory more usually associated with a mountain bike, and came out the other side, albeit it with some definite wheelspin and sideways motion in the back.
The roads afterwards were a breeze, and the mud soon flew off in my direction. Fortunately little of it stuck, so I was able to deliver Mr P his oximeter without resembling something from a swamp. He checked it was ready for his use, and I passed on the paper and verbal instructions from afar. Hopefully it will help him keep aware of his health, and prevent more serious illness.
For a change I took cut through back across the field home which was pleasingly less muddy, but kissing gates and bikes are always a fun combination. It was lovely to get out in the fresh air, and nice to think we can hopefully make a difference to people.

Thank you very much for this Debs! I make these referrals on behalf of York CVS and we know from speaking to people how reassuring it is to be able to monitor oxygen levels and spot serious problems early on.
