2 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in Warwick & Leamington Spa.

2 Goodgymers volunteered at LWS Night Shelter at St John's Church Hall in Leamington Spa supporting their evening food service for homeless and vulnerably housed people. After a quick induction we set to work setting up the tables and chairs, as well as preparing the drinks area and boiling kettles whilst regular volunteers were busy prepping the hot meal for the evening in the kitchen.
Once the doors opened it was all hands on deck, manning the front door, taking food orders and providing a table service to the service users. Nigel did a great job preparing all the hot drinks which were in high demand on such a cold evening.
Once the service users had finished it was back to work cleaning and putting away the tables and chairs, washing up, wiping down all the kitchen surfaces, sweeping and mopping the huge hall floor, taking out the rubbish and packing away any food that hadn't been used ready for tomorrow's evening service.
The charity's regular volunteers are extremely hard working and are providing such an essential service - particularly in this cold weather. It was also great to chat to service users and the other volunteers.
