Mile(s) ahead / behind
1 GoodGymer made their way 1.7km in a race in Islington.
- Friday, 21st of June 2019
- Led by Peter Van Tongeren
This was the 6th year of the yearly Barnet & District AC organised race over 1 Mile, also known as the Golden Stag Mile. For the 3rd year in a row there was some Goodgym representation at this wonderful event, open to all abilities from 8m30+ to those aiming to go quicker than 4m30...
The target for tonight's GG runner was not quite as ambitious as chasing Sir Roger Banisters time with a more modest idea of dipping just under 6 minutes. Provisional result of 6m03 means close, but not quite target smashed...
There were however quite a few targets that did get smashed, from personal bests to club records and even a genuine world record (W55 category) - showing that age doesn't matter a 55yr young lady ran the mile in 5m12.... something nobody in the world has done sofar!
Thanks to Barnet & District AC for another great night of racing - Goodgym will be back next year!
