Me Against Apollo (Way)

I have been back to Apollo Way in Anfield on several occasions. This is one of the hot spots James Coates of Alley Angels has targeted because it is used as a dumping ground. It is depressing on one level because each time you go back there is a mound of rubbish but on the other hand it is great to be making an effort. I speak to plenty of people who tell me that I am fighting a losing battle or tell me how terrible it is that people dump things but nobody seems to want to lend a hand as "it's the councils job to clear that up." The reality is that we are dumping so much rubbish all over the country that we would need thousands of people to clear up all the rubbish. As you will see I have spent an hour clearing up just a small section of one part of a road in one area of one city. The problem is enormous. I hope as we come out of lockdown more people start to spend an hour a month litter picking and starting to take pride in where they live.

I work in that area of Anfield on Tuesdays and noticed yesterday how much cleaner it looked - it upsets me to see what a mess it is in usually. So your efforts have definitely been noticed! Nice one Matthew : )
