Make Someone Else's Bed and Get them To Lie on it (for test purposes)
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Hackney.
- Sunday, 25th of September 2022
Ms I has mobility issues and is no longer confident taking the small flight of stairs to and from her bedroom. To allow her to live all on one level, GoodGym were asked to relocate her bed to the living room.
Izzie and Anne were on hand to help with the move. Ms I was quite delightful and explained the problem with the bed, the need to move the risers and not to forget the bed rails!
When we removed the mattress, we all puzzled over the purpose of the cardboard we found underneath before conversation moved onto the easier subject of GoodGym and in particular, what type of strength training we do to be able to help with these tasks!
The various bed components were easy to move. The most taxing challenge was knowing how to secure the bed rails to the bedframe to be safe to use. Mrs I lay down on the bed to try them out and they passed the test on the second attempt, the sheets of cardboard reinserted for good measure.
The final little job was to measure the height of the bedframe with and without the risers as Mrs I would prefer the bedframe to simply have longer legs and not require the risers at all.
With everything reassembled, secured, tested and measured, the GoodGymers bid farewell to a delighted Mrs I.
