Lovely Shrubly
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Saturday, 10th of February 2018
Two GG Yorkies braved the cold and the rain to help Mrs D clear some shrubs.
York Timebank had been out earlier in the week to remove some rotting trellis which came complete with three large shrubs. Our task was to chop it all up into smaller pieces so that it could be disposed of.
When I arrived, Ellie was chaining her bike to the Ward notice board, which was proudly displaying a GoodGym flyer.
After meeting Mrs D, we set to work. Armed with only a pair of secateurs each, our first task was to cut through a tangle of branches to remove the trellis so that we could cut the green waste up into more manageable chunks.
Shortly after we set to work, Roger from York Timebank popped by to lend us a pair of loppers which made the job much easier! After a quick photoshoot, Roger left us to it, promising to come back later with his car to take away the waste.
Three large shrubs later, we piled our eight full bin bags into a pyramid against the fence and set off on our respective journeys home.
