Lopping is so 'mulch' fun
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Saturday, 16th of February 2019
2 Yorkies ran to help Mrs T with her garden. She likes to have trees in her garden so she can encourage wildlife to thrive. However she needed some help trimming back some of the branches which were growing over the pavement in front of her house.
Ellie and I got to work and were sawing and cutting using a range of tools including the ultimate extendable loppers. Whilst we were going to put cut branches into green bags, Ellie had the great idea of creating a habitat pile in Mrs T's garden using the branches, leaves and mulch; good for encouraging wildlife, less waste and an easier job for us!
“It’s a win win win...win win” - Ellie
After cutting back the branches, we then got to work clearing the leaves and mulch from the pavement to add to the habitat pile. The mulch was teeming with wildlife, including a large spider! But its okay, because apparently Ellie and Mrs T both like spiders!
After clearing the path and cutting back the trees, it was then time to bid farewell. As if on cue, birds in the garden started singing for us; hopefully they appreciate the work we just did!

Looks amazing! Paul and I did the first mission there and there's so much difference since then!
Glad you got to have a go with the ‘ultimate loppers’
