Jubilation
3 GoodGymers made their way 9km to help their local community in Tower Hamlets.
- Monday, 4th of June 2012
- Led by Laura Williams
While others were having picnics and performing concerts and things, a dedicated group of GoodGym runners headed out from the Arch Gallery towards Hackney Downs where we set about continuing the work we started in March. We ran the first 4k in a reasonable 19 mins taking in London fields and arrived at the allotment well warmed up.It was satisfying to see a good crop of strawberries had been and various other vegetables had already been grown on the land we've cleared this year. We started work on a new patch of long grass and also did the final weeding on a plot that will be used to plant pumpkins. We cleared a whole plot of it's foliage and turned and weeded one that had already been cleared. This took us 35 mins including some time to guzzle the drinks that the residents had kindly provided us with.On the way back we ran a few intervals around the perimeter of Hackney Downs, so we were feeling pretty stretched out by the time jogged back South to the Arch Gallery.
