Ivy the Terrible
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Saturday, 11th of May 2019
Myself and Lucy managed to dodge the showers and met at Mrs D's where we were greeted by her son. Our main task was to tackle the ivy that had completely overtaken the back fence and general weeding/tidying up. Fortunately I had brought some tools with me as the only tools Mrs D's son had was a pair of shears. Lucy set to work trimming back the ivy whilst I started weeding one of the borders, soon to discover it was actually a large collection of pots (mostly filled with weeds). I also unearthed a useful rake which had been completely buried by weeds and grass.
Lucy went around to the other side of the fence and continued trimming the overgrown ivy, soon making quite an impressive pile of cuttings. After almost 2 hours we had filled the green bin and 5 large black bags full of ivy cuttings, leaving the garden looking a lot tidier than when we arrived. Mrs D's son was very grateful for our help and Lucy had a lovely chat with Mrs D before we left.

Thanks so much Barbara and Lucy for all your efforts. Amazing job! I think I need to request another mission tor Mrs D overgrown front garden with high hedges needing a trim. I will establish tools and take photos before requesting this time. Thanks again!
Well done, sounds like a cracking effort!
