It was nice mowing you
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.
- Saturday, 5th of December 2015
Paul Bown and I ran to Islington Saturday morning to help my coach Constance mow and weed her garden. Constance recently turned 90 and has trouble walking so she depends on others to do most physical tasks around the house.
First, and most importantly, it was my job to pick up Constance's adorable cat, Buster and put him in the bedroom so he doesn't escape while we mow. Luckily he was all purrs as usual so we got on with the work with no delay.
Paul plugged in the lawn mower and started on the wet grass while I weeded. We took turns mowing since it was a tough job that took a lot of arm power to do. Our teamwork paid off since we were able to finish mowing the lawn in about an hour so we had time to quickly help Constance change her kitchen curtains. She told us they had been there for about 12 years!
After saying goodbye to Constance and Buster we ran back to our homes just in time for lunch. Hopefully with winter coming, it will be awhile before the weeds grow back!
