I’d rather be dog(wood)ing than getting a spike up the bum

7 cheerful GGers ventured out on a wonderfully sunny and crisp morning (even if it was a little icy) to tidy up a bed at Sovereign Park.
We met Kristina who informed us, much to our concern, that the task required actual gardening and identification of plants. Thankfully there were only 3 types of plant - dogwood, laurel and a type of rosehip.
Louise, Nikki and Amy got started on cutting back the dogwood, whilst Abi and Barbara got on the rosehip (which really were incredibly spiky and could pierce through even two layers of gloves, let alone through one layer of Lycra to spike legs and bums!). Ellie starting trimming the laurel and Rich ripped out the nettles that had been growing in between. Soon the challenge was to weave and balance precariously amongst the rosehips to get at the other plants, without getting spiked in the process.
The lovely weather made it a quick and pleasant task and soon the bed was looking a lot neater. The team bid farewell to Kristina before those who didn’t have work to go to popped along to the local bakery for a second breakfast!
