14 runners ran 6km to distribute flyers for Crutch, to promote their their Community Fun Day on the 2nd September.
Big shout out Senay for heading over in advance to grab those flyers. And let's give Claire a big cheer for power-walking her way round!
Our warm-ups were jogging circles with arm movements, and a quick game of shoulder tag. All the teams declaered a tie, so the "prize" of a round of burpees got to be enjoyed by everyone :D
This was a session of multiple splits and reformations. We were targeting an area around Bruce Grove using the tried and tested, "post flyer, run to the front of the group, repeat" relay technique. With groups splitting to do left hand sides, right hand sides, and loops round dead-ends, but regularly getting back together to pick out the next street. We got the target area completed exactly on time for a quick break in the park.
For our fitness session, we took inspiration from GoodGym Islington and focused on arm power. Sitting down and trying to swing our arms hard enough to bounce off the ground! Followed by a continuous relay, first in a relaxed jog, then faster while swinging those arms.
For the return leg, we split into two groups. The Straight Line crew, and the Windy Backroads team. The Backroads team made it back to base first, and their prize was ... an extra minute of planking! Before some a quick of stretches, with some progressions to work on flexibility.
