Hot Cross Puns
4 GoodGymers made their way to help the Oxford Mutual Aid in Oxford.

Oxford Mutual Aid was drowning under a mountain of cardboard, vegetables and bready goods when we turned up for our shift this afternoon. With dozens of food parcels to pack every day it is really tough to also keep on top of restocking shelves, breaking down cardboard, putting out the rubbish, and consolidating stock. Our Saturday afternoon shift usually doesn't include any parcel-packing (although today we did put together 2 Emergency Parcels), which means it's a good opportunity to do all those tasks which are tricky to fit in on a normal shift.
Anna and Zoe got straight on with restocking the shelves, while Vicky and I tried to wrestle the piles of crates and cardboard boxes into some semblance of order. Moving onto the kitchen we replenished crates of veg, sifted out anything going mouldy, and Zoe rose to the task of trying to find shelf space for more crates of bread than we've ever seen at the hall (or possibly even at a bakery).
Things I never thought I'd see at a foodbank: edible flowers.
Number of types of dubious flavoured hot cross buns: 4 (since I know you're curious; chilli and cheese, rhubarb and custard, honeycomb, rasberry and white chocolate).
Whilst the hall was not in completely perfect order by the time we left, it was definitely in better shape than when we arrived.

FYI bread and butter pudding made with the honeycombe hot cross buns was a revelation - so yum!
