Hospital Corners
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Friday, 19th of July 2019
Mrs M needed a bed moving downstairs to make life a bit easier for her.
Now, Mrs K (Lizzie), and I have moved house 4 times in our 5 and a half years so we thought moving a bed would be a piece of cake.
We carefully wrapped up the bedding then we stood looking at the (very heavy) hospital bed for a good 6 or 7 minutes, pondering how it dismantled.
We unscrewed some things that didn’t make a difference, so we screwed them back in again. Then I decided to ring the technical support helpline of the company that makes the beds, but whilst I was on hold, Lizzie figured out how to detach the head and the base.
With the bed in three parts, it was just a case of slowly and carefully manoeuvring it around the four corners of the hallway, down the stairs, around the stairlift, into the downstairs room and then popping it back together.
We plugged all the bits back in, checked it still worked and we even made the bed with fancy sheet corners, leaving it ready for a good night’s sleep!
